NATURAL IMPERFECTIONS

Flowers left wild, nature unkempt, beauty in disarray — if only because we’ve all melted.

Summer inspires us to expand, swell, loosen our grip, to embrace the abundance. Yet as hints of new color break her grasp and bug-filled serenades fade, even in her clinging, September whispers: thank you for the light, but into the grey we go.

Fall arrives not as an ending, but as an unveiling. A time to shed and surrender, to gather and pause, to prepare. And in this space, in-between, where the air feels both heavy and sharp, we’re reminded that perfection was never nature’s point.

IMPERFECTIONS AS SEASONS

"But the most exciting, challenging, and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself."

After two decades, really a lifetime, of playing with clothes, being Mother Nature's cheerleader, and producing life as if it were an event errr experience, I stepped away in late 2019.

Only months later, as if the universe whispered, “you didn't really want those things anyway, right?” I pretended I’d let go.

Stripped of identity. Of what made me… me. Of what allowed me to tune out. Now what? I didn’t have a clue but stumbled into the unknown… that is, movement.

From the music to the flow, my outfits to holding space, I approached and taught Pilates like I was producing an event. Many events. Sometimes every hour. And while I was having fun, something inside wouldn’t let my former identity go.

You see, it’s easy to say you don’t want something… when people are still asking. But what happens when they stop? When they take you at your word?

Last September, that happened, and what had been obvious to all but me… well, my “wrong turns” had in fact led me home.

Now blending fashion, experiences, life(style), and movement, a whole(istic) approach to life and play, designed for the editorially inclined… with a side of granola.

God just exhaled, laughing.

IMPERFECTIONS AS EVOLUTION

Amused at his timing, this past year pulled me into places no one wants to go. Alone. Self-healing. Free? No. Easy? Hardly. Rough? Absolutely. Beyond comprehension.

Yet in those quiet, in-between moments… the darkness cracked and filled with light. I let it in. I let it heal. I let it carry me back into flow.

And as summer transforms into fall, the rhythms and sounds and words and vibes I’m… well, vibing this season are here

IMPERFECTIONS AS MATERIAL

Trees gnarled by wind. Stones weathered by tide and time. The heat. The growth. The openness. The stillness. Summer's blooms now collapsing into themselves, Nature’s Sevyn Elements of Consciousness: wood, water, fire, earth, metal, sound, aether — they give the framework through which transformation flows.

Consider the endurance of the Pantheon and its resilience over time, or pottery repaired with gold — like nature, and figured out generations ago by man — ultimately, the most compelling parts of stories, of longevity, are when cracks fill and layers are born.

Evolution is never perfect. Sometimes disastrous. Often confusing. Always transformative.

Not apologizing for imperfection. Not for growing where it makes no sense or taking longer than we think it should.

Rather, nature wears this weathering as proof. And even man’s greatest stories remind us — from The Alchemist to The Fountainhead to Clueless — the journey takes you far from where you started. Because it’s never about the imagined gold but the becoming. Of finding home.

In rhythm with nature, philosophy embodied through practice. An integrated perspective on how to live. Perhaps that's what September asks... to gather what we've grown. Not perfectly shaped, not endlessly polished, but to be honest. To see the beauty in what's wild, disheveled, unfinished — and to call it enough.

From runways to reformers, life lived through this holistic lens — it’s magic. In practice. In spaces. In shared human experiences.

IMPERFECTIONS AS RHYTHM

Which brings us into this season of change, of nature’s rhythmic cadence within her body, our body… we live in a body.

From digestion to desire, our bodies work in waves, expanding and contracting. Think high tide, energy flows outward. Low tide, drawing inward. Morning calls the stomach to live fully, to eliminate. Evening calls the kidneys to rebuild strength, rest, and repair.

Both framework and frequency, the body mirrors nature and reminds us that even in chaos there is a sequence. Life is about balance. We are not various parts. We are whole — human-to-human, human-to-nature, energetically connected.

PS: For deeper dives into Chronobiotic / Solar Nutrition, please reference my earlier musings: Bridging Seasons. Cultivating Balance. (evening, roots and grounding), The Courage of Nature (morning, trees and purify) and Rooted and Reaching. Now, Build (afternoon, bushes/animals and build).

IMPERFECTIONS AS FLOW

And in flow, Nature teaches. In sessions, we practice the same: a deep inhale to expand, balance, strengthen, and a longer exhale to engage, support, empower.

Each breath, each movement, each twist — the goal isn’t perfection. Nature’s elements find expression through form and an innate sense to find the center, thriving toward it again and again.

The body remembers. The shift begins here.

Keep in mind, whether you’re interested in Pilates or not, no need to stress, but you still should move. It’s our human design.

IMPERFECTIONS AS LAYERS

“Learn how to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else.”

Never meant to be perfect. Life is best layered… nuanced, imperfect, full of story. Style too.

Since August, I’ve been musing on Instagram about those human-to-human, human-to-nature frequency and energetic connections.

We see it. We feel it. We know it.

Yet we crave alignment on demand, expecting others to move and think exactly like us. The inevitable result?

A greenwashed reality. Slick campaigns. Unrealistic expectations. Buzzwords du jour. “Designed in” distractions. And suddenly, we’re at each other’s throats.

Not surprising. Energetically. Spiritually. Literally. We are what we consume. But liberation isn’t perfection. Liberation comes from consuming better. And better begins in our carts. Ladies, this one is on and up to us!

Real sustainability doesn’t exist where cracks are denied, where slave-wage labor, child exploitation, or environmental destruction remain the cost. Ignoring this makes every swipe, every click, another tangled thread in what we consume.

It’s darkness without the possibility of light. And that’s not flow.

Brands are people. Never perfect. Yet unrealistic expectations erase the line between consuming the bowels of humanity… and choosing the layered nuance of good.

The brands worth carrying forward tell stories through makers, materials, memories, and magic. They don’t hide. They inspire. They empower. They make it easier to consume better.

Above it’s Fashion. With a Side of Granola. Below. Well….

IMPERFECTIONS AS PRACTICE

“If you are never alone, you cannot know yourself.”

To begin badly and keep going is the signal. A signal to nature’s algorithm that even in imperfection, body and mind align. Strength rebuilt inside. Outside, not what it was — but true to what it’s become.

Life is not meant to be compartmentalized. Wade into the nonsense and unknown. Strip away the noise. Have the courage to connect, to see, to discover what was always meant to be.

Magic lives in the imperfections... we’re human, after all.

It's a mindset. Shift in perspective. Evolution of self...
Tuned in. Realigned. We transform.
